I want to introduce myself and my family, my name is Eveling
I am from Bolivia, I am a Medical Doctor and Family Therapist, we are living in
Mongolia since 2011. We have two precious children, our son Angel Gabriel (11)
and daughter Priscila Ruth (9). This is our first assignment as missionaries out
of our home country.
Mongolia is the hearth of northern Asia, located in between
China and Russia,
Living in Mongolia is not easy because the weather is too
cold in winter. The average temperature is -30 Degrees Celsius even though
sometimes it reaches -40 or -45. However, to be honest, it is not as bad as it
looks, there is a public heating service provided by the government that
supplies heating to all the buildings, markets, etc, so you don’t need to
expose yourself to that cold weather all the time. My children also enjoy playing
with snow; we also like to go ski
ing or skating.
In summer the landscape is beautiful in the country side, the
mountains are covered by grass like an endless green carpet spotted with pine
trees and colorful flowers. We can also ride horses and camels, visit
traditional museum located in country side.
The people in Mongolia are kind, friendly, they like to live
in family; they also respect the adults so much. We are far from home but we
found a big family in Mongolia.
I like the traditional clothes in Mongolia and the
traditional way they have wedding, they have two special celebrations, Tsagaan
Sar (White Moon) which is the lunar new year, and Nadam which is the biggest
celebration in Mongolia when three competitions take place: archery (usually
for women), wrestling (for men) and horse riding (usually for children below
14).
Our church is small but we feel really comfortable to be
part of it because we can feel the love of God and also our brothers and
sisters in Christ.
What I like about our ADRA colleagues is that they organize
a sports day every week, so we can play basketball; I really enjoy it and have
fun every time I go. I like join these activities because in winter, due to the
weather conditions we cannot spend too much time with outdoor activities.

Dear Eveling, Mongolia is a difficult place but still you found many good things about living there. Thank you for your positive article. We can find joy and interesting things to do as a family always.
